ZOLL emsCharts Web 14.08

August 19, 2025

Important! Use of the [ LEGACY UI ] was removed for charting purposes in version 14.05 of emsCharts Web, but can still be used for some Code Tables and configurations. All new features, enhancements, and bug fixes apply to the [ ZOLL UI ]. Any exceptions will be explicitly noted.

NEMSIS 3.5 update

The latest versions of the dataset, schematron, and approved facilities and agencies released by the State of Florida have been updated in the system. The allowed procedure list has also been updated to allow for accurate blood product documentation.

Blood Product Administration

We added a new 'Route' field to the Blood Product Administration procedure. Additionally, we added the ability for the procedure to export as both a procedure, as it historically has, as well as an administered medication, for NEMSIS 3.5.

Approximate patient age

We have added a new 'Approximate' patient age field on the Patient page to comply with the NEMSIS 3.5.1 data standard update. This field will be available in the UI but will not be included in your exports until your state transitions to the new standard.

Patient sex and gender

With the addition of the new 'Sex' field on the Patient page and user profile and to comply with the new NEMSIS ePatient.25 and dPersonnel.40 elements, we have populated this field for existing patients based on the value previously documented in the 'Gender' field. This change will not update any existing values in the Sex field or add new data to existing charts, but will ensure that when an existing patient is added to a new chart, the value in the Sex field is populated based on the value (if any) previously documented in the Gender field.

User Management

A new tool is available in the User Management Code Table for Service administrators with the "Modify User" security role. This tool enables administrators to bulk update usernames, and optionally, primary email addresses for users within their agency's user management scope. When used, the tool generates a list of users from the agency's User Roster who are not shared with other agencies. Administrators can then update each user's username to be in email format.

This tool is part of a larger effort by ZOLL to support the use of Federated SSO for user authentication, and will ensure that Service administrators are able to facilitate the username updates that are required to use the feature once it is publicly released.

Standard Signatures

We updated the Authorized Representative field in Section II of the Standard Signatures form to display options in a drop-down list rather than all options displaying on the page at once.

The following issues were fixed in this release:

  • Unit Equipment: Users were receiving notifications for a value to be documented in the Unit Equipment field when reviewing locked charts advancing through QA. This requirement is now only enforced for unlocked or incomplete charts.

  • Standby Purpose: The Standby Purpose field was not consistently being displayed when a chart with a 'Type of Service' of Standby was uploaded from emsCharts NOW.

  • Page 8 Medication Log: Complication values were not properly logged when adding or editing a medication. Whether 'Set as None' is selected or one or more values are chosen from the picklist, Complication is now correctly captured.
